A Will gives you peace of mind that your wishes will be respected and carried out. However little or much you have, what you have is important and also important you decide where and to whom it passes onto. It’s all too easy to put off making a Will, and that can cause problems for your loved ones after you’re gone.
We’ve all read about families that become blended, with children who have been cut out of inheritance (often not intentionally). One parent may re-marry, sadly pass away before their spouse and learn a step-parent has changed a Will; cutting them out.
A Will is a must for many reasons, but especially so if you have children. If your children are under 18 years of age and you die without a Will and appointing a legal guardian(s) to care for your child(ren), the Court will decide who looks after them. Their choice(s) may not be aligned with yours.
